God Bless America

I'm proud to be an American!!!!

God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above
From the mountains to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home
God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above
From the mountains to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home
From the mountains to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home
God bless America, my home sweet home

When you say you're proud to be an American, what is it, exactly, that you're proud of, and what, if anything, about America would you like to be different?

I'm proud to be an American because of every word in our Constitution, our freedoms and rights...and I support my President. Any time I mention that on most other blog comments, they either delete or do not post it, which is their right.

The only thing I would like to change is the minds of the Democrats who want to turn us into a Socialist country. What do Socialists do when they run out of other peoples money? Just look at Venezuela where people are eating zoo animals. I'm for Democracy and Capitalism, 100%!!!! xo

Thank you for elaborating. I had a friend from Houston visit two weeks ago, and he made the comment that he opposes socialism, and I wondered which of our socialistic systems he would eliminate--the public library, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the police department, the fire department, the forestry service, etc., etc. etc., my point being the socialism doesn't have to be an all or nothing proposition. As for capitalism, the Constitution didn't decree that we live under capitalistim country, although one wouldn't know it from listening to politicians, the right-wing of whom support an Ayn Randian society. I don't enough about the virtues and pitfalls of a welfare society to comment intelligently about it, but it does seem to me that nothing corrupts like capitalism. As your savior said, money is the root of all evil.

I don't moderate coments, and the last time I deleted a comment was over a year ago when I got spammed.

1 Timothy 6:10 "For the LOVE of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

At my last job, I did payroll for a large company. Every employee/employer pays into Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, State & Federal tax all of their working lives. In my parish in Louisiana, we vote on/pay taxes to fund our local libraries, police, etc. I'd say Capitalism is a success.
