Autumn Waiting
Autumn Waiting
by Tom Hennen
Cold wind.
The day is waiting for winter
Without a sound.
Everything is waiting—
Broken-down cars in the dead weeds.
The weeds themselves.
Trees.
Even sunlight
Is in no hurry and stays
For a long time
On each cornstalk.
Blackbirds are silent
And sit in piles.
From a distance
They look like
Something
Spilled on the road.
~from 'Looking into the Weather'.
Photo of tiny red mushroom taken yesterday in my yard.
Blessings, Peace & Love,
~Marion~
"Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter." ~Carol Bishop Hipps
"October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Wind the band." ~George Cooper, "October's Party"

Love the poetry selections you chose for today. And that little red mushroom is adorable. It just needs a tiny little fairy sitting on it.:)
oh yeah! took a look at the opposite side of the world and there it was Autumn, and she was beautiful! back to the grey stones now :)
That's a poem I wish I had written, Marion. Then when I think it couldn't be any better, you add the verse by Cooper! Ah, wonderful!
oOoOo ~ I really like this poem!!!
SJ, glad you liked the poems & pic. I think it got so cold last night the fairies were curled up with the wild kittens to keep warm! Blessings!
Thanks for stopping by Kay. Blessings!
Karen, it's a good one, isn't it? Sometimes the simplest ones are the best. Blessings!

Excited into life
dappled colors shout
"Exit from the picture;
dance where frame daren't allow"
Somber autumn evening
spent of delight
"Dream magic wings"
Monet's gift
framing my window on the world
gentle excitement
blissing's enchantment
falls in colors
Seeing
through a vision of greygreen
misty forest awakening
spider-fine weave of dream design
drinking in
I make it mine
