Dragonfly Love
Dragonfly Love
I don't know from where
this dragonfly love was birthed.
Memories come to me,
all the way back to 5 years old
playing with dragonflies,
chasing them,
standing as still as a statue,
little fingers outstretched
hoping they'd think me a tree,
or sitting in a lawn chair
my red-painted toes wiggling,
willing them to land.
They always do.
Can it be their predictability?
Maybe.
Or that they soar about the earth
yet are birthed in water.
See his tattered, fragile wings?
See his curious big turquoise eyes?
See how he trusts me?
He's a survivor, like me.
Maybe that's our bond.

You, dear Marion, could never be a tree! Too soft, too fluid, too much to ever be contained as any one....but many parts of all. Will you still love me if I confess....(I really hate bugs, Marion).
LOL! Annie, few people like bugs. That's what I mean about this dragonfly love. I don't know where it came from! But I'm glad they love me back and know me as their Queen. ;-) Blessings!!
ahem (kj clears throat)
oh marion, i have just read your review of my book. i am fluctuating between jumping up and down and sitting quietly grateful for your friendship. thank you so much. to me the review meant so much because one of things i love about my book is there are no villians--that everyone rises to the occasion. and you got that totally.
now, about this post. all i saw was the word 'survivor'. i am still too over the top from your book review to calm down sufficiently to read more, but i certainly will be back.
thank you my new sweet friend. (kj clears throat again while smiling broadly)
xoxo!
Marion- Annie"s just being difficult. everyone loves Dragonflies. I have a post in the wings called dragonflies and butterfly fish. I'll post it soon maybe. You'd like it I hope. Nothing like fishing with a couple a the lil buggers resting on the pole. ~rick
Karen, I really did enjoy your book. It's awesome, just like you, neighbor! But you did have me boo-hooing in certain parts and I won't say which, but YOU KNOW!! LOL! Just so everyone will know, the title of the book is "The Light Stays On" by Karen Jasper and you really should read it!!! Love & Blessings!
Rick, you better quit picking on Annie or I'll throw a snake on you. LOL! Do you like snakes, little boy?? Well, do ya??? OKAY, then! Oh, yeah, here in the South we know that if a dragonfly lands on your fishing pole, it's good luck. Did you know that? I can't wait to read your dragonfly post. I wish I could plan posts ahead of time, but I've always been a 'wing it' type of girl, usually to my detriment. LOL! Thanks for stopping by friend. Love, Hugs and Blessings!!!
I never even knew they were blue like that.
Why were you sad today dear friend?
Love Renee xoxo
Renee, there are even red dragonflies, even though I haven't seen one yet!
Oh, Renee, I don't know must be the this last full moon of summer coming. I miss my period. (Slapping everywoman who just fainted--not MISSED my period which would be a whole 'nother bag of worms. LOL!) What I really mean is I miss my hormones. I always get a little melancholy toward the end of summer and at the beginning of the school year, for some reason. Hell, I'm a woman, and we don't need reasons to be blue, now do we? I'm feeling better now. I'm just glad to have so many awesome friends here. Y'all keep me from falling too far and I love you for it. Thanks for coming by, sweet Renee. Hugs & Blessings!!!
Marion - I often wonder what makes someone have an affinity for a certain thing. For example, the only two things I've ever collected are Russian Nesting Dolls and images of the Virgin Mary. Not too hard to figure those if you know me and my life. I have a friend who loves anything to do with watermelons. Her car license plate even says H20mln Now that one, I don't get. At least dragonflies are things of beauty, fragile yet quick. I loved watching them as a child, too, hovering around the creek, and I find it interesting that you have loved them since childhood.
Great getting to know this bit about you.
Delicately beautiful and curious - you.
Thanks, Erin. Hugs & Blessings!!
Love it, Marion! Your gift for words keeps on flowing!
Not to mention your gift for photography! Keep those photos coming.
You do realize you could cash in on both your words and your photographic eye....right? :)
A great piece of introspection / reflection, Marion. I LOVE your sense of your mutual duality with dragonflies for needing water and air in order not to feel stifled / limited. Your openness gives you this ability to know yourself. Very meaningful, senstitive poem, Marion. xxox
here i am again. only once has a dragon fly landed on me and my little girl scream probably spread the word that i am not trustworthy.
i love that they trust you, marion, and that tells me another thing about you i like...that is, somewhere in between your poetry and your spunk.
xoxo

A perfect poem for the dragonfly lady! Actually, dragonflies are one bug I don't mind at all. I use to love to float in the swimming pool and have them land on my toes.
Seems like I've seen more than usual this summer. Mabye I've just been more aware.
Beautiful images throughout, Marion. "I see 'men' as trees."
Thanks, everybody!! I'm behind today. Karen, Pammie, Kelly, Margaret and Judith, thank you all for stopping by and for your kind words. They heal me, they do. I love you all. Blessings!
Harumph! (arms crossed on chest, brow furrowed) I AM NOT just being difficult. I don't like dragonflies...they have too much girth. Friggin' big bugs they are. I would FREAK out if one of them landed on me. And they are LOUD. I AM NOT just being difficult Richard!!!!
Oh, Annie, that Rick. Ain't he bad? He's just being a bad little boy. LOL! I bet he's skeered of spiders.
