The Weed by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

My neighbor's weeds, visiting over the fence.

THE WEED

A weed is but an unloved flower!
Go dig, and prune, and guide, and wait,
Until it learns its high estate,
    And glorifies some bower.
A weed is but an unloved flower!

All sin is virtue unevolved,
Release the angel from the clod--
Go love thy brother up to God.
Behold each problem solved.
    All sin is virtue unevolved.

  1. Given my sad lack of knowledge on flora, I don't know many times whether something is truly a weed or not. I find them all beautiful!

  2. Me, too, Kelly. Weeds are as beautiful as Roses in my eyes. xo

One may have a blazing hearth in one's soul and yet no one ever come to sit by it. Passers-by see only a wisp of smoke from the chimney and continue on the way. ~Vincent Van Gogh~ Pull up a chair...
