Winter Trees by Marion

Ghost of a Moon By Marion

Winter Trees
By Marion

The trees are all bare tonight,
their gangly limbs,
bony-fingered arrows
pointing to the ghostly full moon
shining luminously overhead
casting murky shadows
on the frozen ground.

Unearthly they seem---
like beings from another realm,
vulnerable and naked,
yet sure of who they are---
safe,
watched over
by the stars.

Let me tell you I delight with the simple things of life. Your poem dignifies the hidden beauty of the trees on the frozen ground. Exquisite, I have enjoyed it.

  8. Your poem reminds my of my childhood, when I was told the trees would send the message of safety from the stars, when I had a bad dream.

Your poem brought me the same level of comfort...isn't it strange the memories which returned upon reading your poem!

Thank you, Marion, the poem is lovely!

  10. Marion your description of such brings a smile to my face. I love how you personalize things. And I was trying to pick out a favourite part to her, but I can not; for each completes her whole beauty.Lovely; you.

  11. Robert and I were talking today and I explained that I feel at times overtaken, as though I am an animal with too much - and he said, yes, it is as if there is too much energy in the body - and I agreed, explaining that it is in these times that I go to the woods and it is as though I can get rid of that extra energy by being outdoors. It is as though the trees lift it from me, lighten my burden.

Your poem is beautiful, your photo too, and the sentiments, the quiet woman beneath them:)
