Pretty Words

Winter?  What winter?  I'm still barefooted watching lovely weeds grow...

+ + + + + + + + + +

"Oh the night came undone like a party dress
And fell at her feet in a beautiful mess . . ."

~Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, from "Barroom Girls".

Things that Broke Last Year:

The oven on my stove
Central Heater
Two ceiling fans
One stove burner
The microwave
The starter on my truck
My Manx cat. . . twice
The sliding glass door
One of my Fiestaware glasses

My heart.

Love,
Marion

Well it's not warm enough for bare feet here. I'm tired of being cold and it's just January! (and folks up north would laugh at my idea of cold)

Your poem is sad, Marion.

Healing ((hugs)) for your broken heart.

Your heart don't look broke! It always looks to me like it grows in equal measure to the way you love with it...which is BIG WHOLE LOVE! You are beautiful, vibrant and giving woman who still has sexy feet!!!!

and all these breakages, how they counterintuitively make us whole!

i love this poem, marion!

your manx cat broke twice?

Your heart is broken? Oh, I hope not! The broken material stuff can be fixed, but your heart requires extra special care. I hope it's healing! Love the shot of your bare feet. We haven't had much Winter, either, but I'm not brave enough to venture out barefoot.:)

hey - thanks for visiting my blog, nice of you to pop in.

You've got me thinking about things that broke with me last year and i guess we're down to the last four plates that my mum always reminds me when she comes round "used to belong to my nan"

:)

Hope to see you again - nice piece of writing

The poem is a heartbreak... I'm thinkin' it is one of those years poems, until I got to the last line.

I hope you are ok, mi amigo.

Your cat broke? I hope it wasn't broken into pieces because it's expensive to reattach body parts to a cat.
