God Says Yes To Me by Kaylin Haught

I've been listening to my record albums today. I have quite a collection, most like new. I made a major haul at a library sale several years back and got almost 100 albums in mint condition for fifty cents each. The one pictured is one of my very, very favorites with some awesome memories attached to it. :-)

I thought I'd share a favorite poem, too. This poem sings right off the page!

Enjoy,
Marion

=====================

God Says Yes To Me
Kaylin Haught

I asked God if it was okay to be melodramatic
and she said yes
I asked her if it was okay to be short
and she said it sure is
I asked her if I could wear nail polish
or not wear nail polish
and she said honey
she calls me that sometimes
she said you can do just exactly
what you want to
Thanks God I said
And is it even okay if I don't paragraph
my letters
Sweetcakes God said
who knows where she picked that up
what I'm telling you is
Yes Yes Yes

What we are not now
I am not dreamin'..." ~From: 'Suite: Judy Blue Eyes' by Steven Stills

You make we want to pull out some records to listen to on this cold, dreary evening!!

My "Yes" albums are on that label.

Oh, I love your God!
And your music, soundtracks of my life too.
So glad to be here.

I like God that way. Wish I was feeling "sweetcakes" from that direction.

What an album that was! Looking forward to hearing it when I visit. "God, is it alright if I dance?"

Wow, I remember that album very well. There are some pretty spectacular memories attached to it for me as well. What a great era that was. Hope you've had a good weekend!

omg! What riches! I absolutely love your Alphabet Woman, Marion: it is so YOU! so creative.
And what nostalgia you've evoked in me for Crosby, Stills and Nash. Oh, yes, I remember Suite: Judy Blue Eyes . . . "It's getting to the point when I'm no fun anymore. . . " And the poetry of Marrakesh Express. I bet that record collection is AMAZING! Love and WARMTH to you, Margaret

I stumbled upon this blog after Googling Kaylin Haught as her poem "God Says Yes To Me" was the poem for the day on the "Writers Almanac", my homepage.
I kept looiking and looking at this blog-gem after gem after gem (CSN, Stevie Nicks, T.S. Elliot, Anais Nin, and the playlist: VIncent, Kashmir, lots of Patty Griffin balanced out with "Fat Bottomed Girls"?
Whoever writes this blog thinks big, really big.
Thanks so much-
K
