Pearl Jam - Given to Fly

"Given To Fly"
By Pearl Jam

He could've tuned in, tuned in
But he tuned out
A bad time, nothing could save him
Alone in a corridor, waiting, locked out
He got up outta there, ran for hundreds of miles
He made it to the ocean, had a smoke in a tree
The wind rose up, set him down on his knee

A wave came crashing like a fist to the jaw
Delivered him wings, "Hey, look at me now"
Arms wide open with the sea as his floor
Oh, power, oh.........

He's.. flying

Whole

High.. wide, oh

He floated back down 'cause he wanted to share
His key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere
But first he was stripped and then he was stabbed
By faceless men, well, fuckers
He still stands

And he still gives his love, he just gives it away
The love he receives is the love that is saved
And sometimes is seen a strange spot in the sky
A human being that was given to fly

High.. flying

Oh, oh

High.. flying

Oh, oh

He's flying

Oh, oh................

Thanks, Quid. I found the girl signing the song to be pure poetry in motion herself and just watching her sign my favorite Pearl Jam song made me boo-hoo like a baby. It's so beautiful. Yes, music is poetry. Love & Blessings, my friend...

I've never heard this song before! Arms wide open with the sea as his floor. What beautiful imagery. I want to go high...flying. Seems lately all I do is clip wings, including my own.

Annie, I'm glad to have introduced you to this Pearl Jam song. It's my favorite. I've flown in my dreams 3 times and each time it was beyond exhilarating. I was in my 50's when it happened. There's something for you to look forward to. :-) Love you, my friend. Blessings!

I'm not really familiar with much Pearl Jam.

These lyrics are quite poetic!

Music carries us along body and soul, in an instant, words blended with sounds. Lovely.

Kelly, I love lead singer Eddie Vedder's voice. It's like catnip to the cat in me. :-) They have some amazing music. Blessings!

Lakeviewer, yes, music is like a magic carpet ride. Thanks for stopping by. Blessings!

You've made by Sunday morning, Marion. I haven't listened to Pearl Jam in a while and I think I'll pull out their CDs and listen to them today. Beautiful to watch in sign language fashion!

I've heard that song before because I absolutely adore Pearl Jam, but this was a real treat. And it IS poetry, for sure.:)

Thanks, SJ. I've been hopelessly in love/lust with Eddie Vedder for years. Sigh. I so wanted to have his babies, but could never hook up with him while I still had a functioning uterus. Ha! Thanks for stopping by. Blessings!
