My Cypress tree is turning rusty-red, one of the few trees to change color around here. We mostly have Pine trees.
"There is always Music amongst the trees in the Garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it." ~Minnie Aumonier
Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky,
We fell them down and turn them into paper,
That we may record our emptiness.~Kahlil Gibran
The butterflies are still around enjoying the few Zinnias I have left.
I love the color of this Zinnia. It's amazing how many different colors and shapes of flowers come out of that one ten cent package of flower seeds!
"Bread feeds the body, indeed, but flowers feed also the soul." ~The Koran
I bought this bush as a small plant at an herb sale a few years ago. It's called a "Firecracker or Cigar Plant". The scientific name is Cuphea ignea. It grew into this huge bush and produces hundreds of little long, red-orange flowers from March until frost. It stays covered in butterflies and hummingbirds. I highly recommend it. It comes back every year here in Louisiana. We're in a sub-tropical zone, though. If it's cut back and covered with leaves, it will probably survive other zones as well.
This is a close-up of the yellow butterflies that love the "Firecracker" plant---and a close-up of the flower which reminds me of Honeysuckle flowers. This bush is easily propagated, too. I took a few cuttings from branches last Fall and planted them in regular potting soil in a South facing window in my house and they grew like weeds.

The cats are enjoying the sunshine while watching the leaves fall and the lizards scrambling along the window screen.
Poor Cody-dog. Catfish looks like one of Cody's chew toys sitting here in his face. Catfish wants to be a dog so bad it's funny. He ignores the other cats and hangs out with Cody (who's jealous of him and growls at him, but tolerates him).
Wishing you all a wonderful, peaceful weekend.
Blessings,
Marion

Blessings to you too. I enjoyed the plant and animal photos as always. You will find that you will never burn me out on a diet of photos from your part of the world, specifically the wild plant life. How I miss the native plants of the Deep South. Believe it or not, many of the trees from that area grow here in town--including cypresses--although I've yet to find a sassafras. I'm sorry that you report having little else than pine trees in your immediate area. Do you know what kind of pine trees they are--loblolly or longleaf maybe?
A tranquil walk through your garden is just what I needed this morning. Thank you Marion! Hope you are feeling well dearest.
Your property is so beautiful, Marion, and teeming with life~ I love the photo of the cats looking out the window with their tails curled just so--that could be a painting/watercolor! xxox
Thank you, Margaret. Yes, my cats are real posers. Ha! Except at night when they want to party and make noise. Blessings!
Annie, thanks for stopping by. I'm hanging in. The beautiful, sunny weather is good for the soul. Love & Blessings!
Snow, I have one Longleaf Pine but the ones in the woods nearby are mostly Loblolly (love that name). I love the Longleaf's long, shiny green needles. There's a pine tree farm about 15 miles from where I live and they grow all Longleafs. Walking through the grove there is like being in a fairy tale with the soft, hushed, spongy ground covered in Pine needles. Thanks for stopping by. Blessings!
Carmen, glad you enjoyed the pictures. I was lazy this week and didn't take very many. I discovered a white rose blooming today I'll have to capture before it fades. Cody is really a 95 pound cat. LOL! Blessings!
How nice to see some things still in bloom. It's brown here now, with the beautiful gold, red, and orange leaves having fallen with the last rain. It was 70 degrees today and sunny, though, so it was a beautiful day to do a final cleanup before winter.
I love the Gibran quote.
Have a great weekend.
Your yard is very pretty and even in November awash with colours.
I am thinking, Mister Gibran a wise man.
Karen, when most of the world is frozen or under snow, we're usually still warm down here. Today was so sunny and warm it felt like Spring. I love the Autumn sunlight. It's clearer, as if touched by magic. Blessings!
Saraha, thank you. Yes, I love, love, love Gibran. I reread "The Prophet" often. So much wisdom in one little book. Love and Blessings to you, my friend!
Your yard is beautiful and I am happy that you were able to get out of the house today.
Love Renee xoxo
Judith, I think that poem was one of the first ones I ever memorized! It's still one of my very favorites. Thanks for sharing it here. Blessings, dear friend!
Thanks, Renee. Sunshine is God's medicine, for sure. Blessings & Love!
HA! The play is in the crook of those cat tails! They're all verge, those cats.

Lovely pictures and words. Thanks for sharing them.
Marion-always love the garden. The firecracker bush is outrageous! Love the line about being silent to hear the trees. When I post next week, don't hmph! me. It's all tongue in cheek.
have a good weekend~rick
Sure did enjoy all your pictures today. Your flowers are all beautiful.
Your cats are cute, but you know I love to see pictures of Cody.
My son helped me plant pansies today and Jed kept stealing them. I hope he leaves them in the beds and they get a chance to grow!
lol your animals are adorable! I love how the cat wants to be a dog!!
