Dust If You Must......

Dust if you must . . .

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
to paint a picture, or write a letter,
bake a cake, or plant a seed;
ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time
with rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
music to hear, and books to read;
friends to cherish, and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there,
with the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
a flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
this day will not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
you, yourself, will make more dust.

"Besides the noble art of getting things done,
there is the noble art of leaving things undone.
The wisdom of life consists
in the elimination of nonessentials."

This reminds me of the old poem I've seen often about rocking the baby rather than cleaning the house. Give me a baby to rock any day! I'm with you on this one, Marion. We'll be dust soon enough - why play in it now? I'm for the elimination of nonessentials. Simplify, simplify, simplify! (to quote an old friend) ;-)

Cheers.

I always leave the dusting and stuff 'til the last possible moment while I do the things I want to do first, so I think I may doing things just right. Suits me pretty well, anyway.:)

Music to my ears, Marion! My goal is to make sure I do one fun thing every day and one chore. I try!

Marion-ya know. the moon is full of dust. suppose we go and dust and neglect the view? Ha! fat chance, skinny one. Let the dust dust itself, we have fine chores to tend to. ~rick

Marion, yes, I like these. I've had to loosen my firm hold on dust. Let it sweep me instead. Love it. You must be in a good place, Marion.

So incredibly true...says the neat freak who can't really leave clutter alone.

Maybe I'll get better at eliminating the non-essentials? :)

My homies!!!! LOL! I have a poster on one of my closet doors of three gnomes and it says, "Chillin' With My Gnomies". My surgeon son-in-law is afaid of gnomes. (I tell him he's gnome-o-phobic...) When they visit from out of state I have this gnome statue that I keep in the closet to torment him with which I bring out and put in various places...like on his car seat. It cracks me up that he's afraid of gnomes. I know, I'm wicked. Ha! But everyone needs a phobia, right?

I found this poem one day last week in a notebook I'd had since high school. I still love it soooo much and I'm glad y'all enjoyed it, too. Blessings, my friends!

Annie, we have dust dinosaurs at my house. Big, blonde ones from our Golden Retriever. They won't even fit under the bed. Kinda like tumble weed hairballs...Damn, I'm on a roll today. Too much coffee and a hangover from that full moon last night. Note to myself: Must give up shapeshifting soon..........
