When Somone Deeply Listens To You by John Fox

I dedicate the following poem to you, my blog friends and followers. My life is richer, deeper, and more alive since I've met you all. You are my water and my sunshine. Love & Blessings!!

When Someone Deeply Listens To You
By John Fox

When someone deeply listens to you
it is like holding out a dented cup
you've had since childhood
and watching it fill up with
cold, fresh water.
When it balances on top of the brim,
you are understood.
When it overflows and touches your skin,
you are loved.

When someone deeply listens to you
the room where you stay
starts a new life
and the place where you wrote
your first poem
begins to glow in your mind's eye.
It is as if gold has been discovered!

When someone deeply listens to you
your bare
feet are on the earth
and a beloved land that seemed distant
is now at home within you.

Marion, I remember a long time ago begging for someone to see me, to recognize me. I know what you mean, dear one. I see you. I hear you. I value you. And I thank you for all you give.

So true! Is this why artists fall in love with their subjects, actors working on the same project have affairs with one another, and we can't stop blogging?

I am in the mood, but even if I wasn't, I could feel this one. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, wonderful friends, for your sweet comments. It just blows me away that so many people love the poetry I post and my garden and flower pictures. I listen to you all and value your words more than I can ever say!

Before I began this blog, I only had 2 or 3 poetry-loving friends with which to share my passion. I was so blown away to discover so many talented poets and writers here: Annie at Wine and Words, Rick at One Big Love, Saraha at Dancing With the Waves of the Sea, Erin at Woman in a Window and In Through the Back Door, Phoenix, Karen, AJ, Cat, Kay... Just click on any of my followers and you'll find amazing writers and poets and artists. My world has expanded so far beyond my little house in the bayous of Louisiana and I thank you all for having the courage to share your passions, too. We all need each other desperately. I love you all! Blessings!!

I want the whole world to love poetry, (or at least to give it a chance), to know it's power and to listen to it's whispered messages of love, hope, inspiration, understanding, and peace.

Polly, I'm glad you enjoyed the poem. I do hope you find someone to deeply listen to you. We all need the power being listened to brings us. Blessings!

ChicGeek, thanks for visiting. Isn't Rick just a wonderful person? The first time I visited his blog I fell in love with him because he loves Stevie Nicks....LOL! He's the real deal and a true friend. Glad you enjoyed the poem. Blessings!

That I can see you this clearly, without any tangible proof of you, with you being farther than arms length....much farther than a distance. That I can hear you without lips movement. That I can feel you hovering behind my right shoulder, concerned and watchful. That I can be your friend at all....

BIG friggin' gifts you give, my Marion, and I never let them go unheard, unseen, unoticed.

BTW, I am loving David Whyte's (?) CD. I am momentarily displaced, and wondering where I will find myself when finished!

Marion said...

Annie, I'm so glad you're loving the CD. I just came across mine while perusing my books trying to find one to read and I listened to the first part again...he's just awesome, isn't he?

I have an amazing book, "The Floating World" by Cynthia Gralla that I want to re-read and I've misplaced it among my hundreds of books! OY! I can see it in my mind, but can't find it. But I'm having fun visiting some of my old favorites. LOL! Blessings, dearest Annie. You're an angel....

Rick was right you are marvelleous. I hope you do not take this the wrong way, but as I browsed through some of your blog writes, ( i to love poetry and love to laugh ) the poem above tells how i felt visiting here..

I feel sunshine , love, friendship, someone is truly caring, they are listening, I can feel my bare feet on the ground back home, distant but now so close.

TY so much, blessings always :}

This poem is perfect, Marion! Not all poetry speak to me, but you have a way of finding poems that hold universal truths and express them in an approachable way.

This blog of yours is a treasure!

Now I'm off to learn more about John Fox and his poetry.

Hugs and love,
Angela
